QUALITIES WE LOOK FOR
As we consider selecting new Small Group Leaders, there are 5 qualities that we look for and value. Rather than focusing on specific strengths or ministry experience, we are most concerned with a leader’s heart. We want spiritually healthy men and women who are committed to small groups.
New leaders are typically selected on the recommendation of their existing Small Group Leader along with the input of coaches, pastors and elders.

CHARACTER
Observed progression of Christlike qualities being formed in a leader’s life as evidenced in Scripture (Galatians 5; 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; Philippians 2). All Small Group Leaders should be actively living under the leadership of Christ.
CONVICTION
Deeply held belief about what is true and right that impacts how an individual thinks, speaks, and lives. All Small Group Leaders should be ready to take on the responsibility of leading others to serve Christ.
CAPACITY
Availability and willingness to serve, study, develop, and lead self and people. All Small Group Leaders should be able to devote the time necessary to lead a Small Group.
COMPETENCE
Skills necessary to serve and lead. All Small Group Leaders must embrace the vision and values of small groups while demonstrating the ability to lead, disciple and facilitate ministry (Hebrews 13:7).
CHEMISTRY
Interaction with and relationship to people, leaders, philosophy, and mission of the church. All Small Group Leaders must participate in a small group before leading a group of their own (2 Timothy 2:2) and go through church membership as representatives of Harvest Bible Chapel Buffalo (Philippians 1:3–6).
